Table Mountain is a flat top summit that overlooks Cape Town – stretch 1300 acres as part of the National Park on the Cape of Good Hope. This activity follows Platteklip Gorge to the summit – the easiest and most direct route.

Meet your guide in Cape Town for this half-day hiking excursion to the summit of Table Mountain. A scenic route that follows the Platteklip Gorge route, this is the oldest, easiest and most direct route to the summit at 1,086m and suitable for all ages and abilities. A moderate 2 to 3-hour hike, this trail travels through a deep ravine on the iconic front face of the mountain – and whilst you climb, your guide will tell you more about this famous peak and the flora and fauna endemic to the National Park. With a few rock steps and some scrambling, this route has been left unchanged since it was first ascended in 1503 – making it the mountain’s oldest and most historic route! Once you make it to the top, it’s time to mark the moment with a few photos, exploring the summit and soaking up the scenery – returning by foot on a one-hour descent.
Conditions
Platteklip Gorge involves no technical sections or exposure to heights. The gradient is steep and has lots of large steps -suitable for anyone in good shape. Whilst hiking boots and poles are not necessary, please note that the total hike time is approximately 4 hours.
