About the activity

Tromsø is a picturesque city in the far north of Norway, known for its stunning natural landscapes and rich cultural heritage. Due to its proximity to the Arctic Circle, witnessing the Northern Lights in Tromsø during the winter months is very common! So why not try chasing it in the wilderness around the city, accompanied by an experienced guide who will welcome you on board a comfortable, heated minivan? You will also receive a specific gear to keep you safe and warm throughout the trip, including winter jackets and pants, reflectors, and a headlamp. Once everyone is prepared, the Northern Lights hunt in Tromsø will begin! Your guide will track the Aurora forecast and take you up to 2 hours away from the city, where the chances of seeing Northern Lights are the highest.

Upon arrival at the best viewing spot, you will stop to admire the magical night sky! If you are lucky, the vibrant dancing colours of the Aurora Borealis will appear above you. You will capture some photos, take in the incredible natural wonder, and learn more about the myths and legends of the Northern Lights thanks to your guide. Afterwards, a delicious warm meal and hot drinks will be prepared for you to enjoy and warm up. If you are near the instructor's cosy grill cabin, you will eat there. Then, the guide will drive you back to the original starting point in Tromsø city. Brilliant night chasing the Northern Lights and spending time in a warm and cozy cabin in the Norwegian countryside. We saw the lights in many forms and from several angles/ locations.

This was a great adventure into the mountains for viewing the northern lights. It was cloudy so we could only see a peek of them through the camera lens, but the full moon was beautiful and our time well spent.

Great activity to chase the spots to try to track down the lights! While we ultimately were not able to see the lights, this was out of our control, and it was very cool to see the scientific process behind tracking down the lights.
