On arrival at Reykjavik domestic airport, you'll meet your pilot who will accompany you on this helicopter flight to the newest or past eruption site. Once the safety instructions have been given, you'll set off on your 35-minute adventure in the air aboard an AS350 B2 Ecureuil helicopter with seating for 5 passengers or an Airbus EC130 with 6 seats.
When the eruption is active, you will contemplate the lava flowing from the air on this unique and unforgettable panoramic flight! When it is no longer active, you'll have an unbeatable view, a memorable spectacle to see from every angle! You'll get up close and personal to an erupting volcano, and experience an unforgettable moment to capture in photographs...

- August 22nd - September 5th, 2024 (Sundhnúkur)
- November 20th - December 8th, 2024 (Sundhnúkur & Stóra Skógfell)
- Arrive at the aerodrome and meet the pilot
- Departure for the flight over the past eruption site
- Overflight of the volcanic area
- Return to the aerodrome and end of the activity
Children must be accompanied by an adult.
Please be advised that any passengers over 120 kg (265 lbs) are required to pay for 1.5 seats in the helicopter. This will ensure that everyone on the tour has a comfortable and safe ride!
Please keep in mind that eruptions are an event of nature and it may or may not be active at the time of your tour. As of now, the eruption is no longer active. However, this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to experience the volcano from above!
