On arrival at Reykjavik domestic airport, you'll meet your pilot who will accompany you on this helicopter flight to the Hengill geothermal area. Once the safety instructions have been given, you'll set off on your 1-hour adventure in the air aboard an AS350 B2 Ecureuil helicopter with seating for 5 passengers or an Airbus EC130 with 6 seats.

Discover one of Iceland's most active geothermal areas, on the Hellisheiði plateau. From steaming geysers to lava fields stretching to the horizon, you'll see some incredible scenery and then land near the steaming hot springs!

The Hengill geothermal area is home to the country's largest renewable energy plant. During this 1-hour sightseeing helicopter flight, you'll also discover the Nesjavallavirkjun valley and the active Hengill volcano! Your flight will end with a flight over Reykjavik, Iceland's capital.

Practical information

The total duration of the tour is 50-60 minutes.

25-50 minute guided helicopter flight and a 15-minute landing by a remote geothermal area on an old volcano.

Course of events

- Arrive at the aerodrome and meet the pilot

- Departure for the flight over the Hengill geothermal area

- Flight over the Hellisheiði plateau, Hengill geothermal area, Nesjavallavirkjun, Hellisheiðarvirkjun, Bláfjöll mountain range, city of Reykjavik, Kristnitökuhraun lava field and craters.

- 15-minute landing in the Hengill geothermal zone.
- Return to the aerodrome and end of the activity

Activity requirements

Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Lap-held children under 1 y/o free of charge.

Weight limit 120 kg per passenger. This will ensure that everyone on the tour has a comfortable and safe ride! Any passengers over 120 kg / 265 lbs / 19 stone are required to pay for 1.5 seats in the helicopter.

Special terms

Departure times subject to confirmation: morning departures vary from 08:00 to 13:00, and evening departures from 13:00 to 20:00.

All flight times are determined by the instructor according to the weather forecast.

Duration based on helicopter size and weather conditions - 2 people minimum per flight.
