A mix between a dog sledge and scooter, the kicksled is an ingenious way to safely manoeuvre through snow and ice whilst having fun! Though the origins of the kicksled may come from the Nordics, the kicksled makes for a perfect mode of transportation during a snowy Yukon winter! To use the kicksled, rest your feet on the foot plates located on the metal rails while kicking the ground in between, like a scooter, to gain momentum. Simply kick and slide!
This fantastic contraption will allow you to travel in style and speed through the stunning wilderness around Whitehorse, creating unforgettable memories in a veritable winter wonderland! As you glide through the trees, you might also catch sight of local Yukon wildlife which your guide will be able to talk to you more about. There will be a slight elevation gain during the kicksledding tour as well as some sloping terrain that will add variety and thrill to your excursion. You will also have the chance to take a break from the activity and enjoy snacks and refreshments as part of the tour.

A half-day guided guided kicksledding tour of the Yukon backcountry, with a slight elevation gain of approximately 10 metres. Each kicksled holds 1 person only.
-Pick-up at Sternwheeler Hotel at departure time
-Meet guides and drive to kicksledding location
-Activity and safety briefing
-Begin kick sledding!
-Break for snacks and refreshments
-End of activity
-Transportation back to pick-up spot
All children must be accompanied by an adult.
Participants are required to wear weather appropriate outdoor clothing.
Winter clothing is available for rent if necessary, inclusive of an insulated weatherproof parka, insulated snow pants, winter boots good for up to -40°C, mitts and glove liners, and a knitted hat. The average rental price is around 130 CAD.
