Discover the fun of ice fishing in the Yukon, a fabulous winter’s day out for the whole family near Whitehorse!

Ice fishing gives you the thrill of the catch along with a unique way to appreciate the beauty of Yukon in winter! There is something so cosy about huddling over a woodfire amidst the peaceful surroundings of a frozen lake topped with a plush layer of snow! Whether you love to fish, enjoy eating fish, or just want to take in the tranquil Yukon wilderness around Whitehorse, this activity has something to offer all ages and interests!

Your ice fishing tour begins when your guide decides which Yukon lake will offer the best ice fishing experience depending on weather conditions. Once you arrive at the lakeside, your guide will then equip you with snowshoes and lead you across the frozen lake to the ice fishing spot! During the winter, ice thickness can range from 30 cm to 1 metre, and your guide will use an ice-auger to drill a hole into the ice. Then it will be time to fish!

The Yukon has some of Canada’s best ice fishing, with lakes full of trout, northern pike, Arctic grayling, rainbow trout and Arctic char. For those of you who are lucky enough to catch one of these local denizens, your guide will fillet it and cook it over the fire for you to enjoy fresh! As you sit back and enjoy your time on the lake whilst ice fishing, there will also be warm drinks on hand to keep you warm and toasty!

Book your Yukon ice fishing experience near Whitehorse now for a full Arctic adventure that will leave you with unforgettable memories!
