Owner and operator Taisto Thorneus is a native of northern Scandinavia and is no stranger to the sub-arctic wilderness. With over 35 years of experience as a professional guide and tour operator, he has won both national and international dog sledding races. In 1983, he completed a 1700 km dog sledding expedition across the Scandinavian mountain range.

Over the last five years, Taisto has won the Swedish long-distance championship 3 times and in February 2017 earned the silver medal in the middle-distance world championships in Ontario, Canada. Today, Taisto leads his Lapland Wilderness Tours team to offer thousands of clients the magic and fun of dog sledding. He is a pioneer, professional, and successful business owner who is passionate and extremely knowledgeable about dog sledding tours. Taitso and the Lapland Wilderness Team are ready to take you on a wild ride through the Arctic!

Lapland wilderness tours team has been amazing. Friendly, motivated and happy to explain you everything about their job and about the dogs' life. Efficient communication and i found honest and clear from them the fact that they let us chose between a full refound or the dog sled experience without sled because of lack of snow. Happy we chose the second one.

They provided everything from the snow boots to the extra warm layer of clothing. They knew their dogs well and cared well for them also. The tour was amazing, as was the Arctic lunch and the dogsledding and overall service.

Freda was amazing. She worked so hard and gave us an unforgettable experience. Knowledgeable on all aspects of her dogs and sledding. Showed a genuine passion for her role as our guide. The food was delicious too. Cannot fault anything about our time spent there.
