This activity is a private tour for families, and each excursion will be adapted to the specific ages of the children. The adventure will begin with pick up from Camp Ripan (transfer is available from listed locations, please specify when booking). You will meet your experienced guide, change into your Arctic gear (thermal overalls, boots, mittens, and hat), and be driven to the kennels in Kiruna, approximately 40 minutes away.

After a scenic drive, you will arrive at the destination, where you will get to meet the adorable Alaskan huskies! Your family will get complete private time with these friendly animals. The children will be able to take their time cuddling and helping with the dogs. You will be given a safety briefing, before helping set the dogs up for the ride. You will all share a big sled that is driven by the guide. Once everything is set up, the adventure begins!

Out in this remote location far from tourist areas, the Arctic wilderness comes alive. The dog sled ride will last approximately 60 minutes. During this time, you will discover the snowy forest, frozen swamps and rivers, and picturesque landscapes. You may be lucky enough to spot some of the wildlife that frequent the region, including moose, reindeer, elkes and foxes. In this peaceful environment, you can truly immerse yourself in the stillness of nature and take in the scenery. On clear days, you will be able to see the highest mountain in Sweden, Kebnekaise, in the distance. Don’t forget to bring your camera, there will be plenty of opportunities to capture these amazing life-long memories for your family!

After the tour, you will return to the base. Both adults and children can help to get the dogs out of their harnesses and return them to the kennels. The guide will show you how to give a safe, well-deserved massage to the dogs. Once you are finished, a comforting hot chocolate or coffee and some delicious pastries will be served inside the house. Your guide will share stories about Arctic life and answer any questions you may have. Some of the dogs will also be brought inside for the children to cuddle and play with. Once you have said goodbye to your new four-legged friends, you will be driven back to the starting point.
