The adventure begins at the meeting point in Alta, where you’ll be greeted by the experienced guide. Then, you’ll enjoy a scenic 30-minute drive to Gargia Forest. This picturesque and serene natural area is situated in Finnmark County, close to the town of Alta. Upon arrival at Gargia Lodge, you’ll gear up with the snowshoeing equipment and prepare for your hiking adventure!

No previous snowshoeing experience is required for this excursion. Following the guide, you’ll set off into the dense wilderness of Gargia Forest. Along the way, you may encounter different wildlife and bird species. You’ll walk along a trail, passing snow-covered birch and pine trees, the peaceful river, and open meadows.

Then, you’ll arrive at the frozen wonder of Orvvosfossen Waterfall. The cascading water turned into ice is a mesmerising spectacle to behold! On the riverbank, you’ll take a break and enjoy some snacks and hot tea or coffee. After taking in the breathtaking view, you’ll snowshoe back to Gargia Lodge. The guide will then drive you to the original meeting point in Alta.
