Join a guided visit to Siida Museum and a reindeer farm in Inari to immerse yourself in the traditional Sámi culture of Lapland, the perfect family day out!

Inari is a picturesque village located in the Lapland region of northern Finland. This full-day sightseeing tour in Inari takes you to the Siida Museum, officially called the Sámi Museum and Nature Centre, a cultural and educational institution dedicated to preserving and showcasing the rich history, culture, and environment of the Sámi people and the Arctic region.

The guided visit to Siida Museum begins at the meeting point in Ivalo, a nearby small village situated in the wider municipality of Inari. Upon arrival, you'll be greeted by the friendly local guide and receive your Arctic gear (winter overalls and warm mittens). Then, the guide will drive you to the village of Inari for your visit to the Siida Museum! You'll embark on a tour of the museum and learn more about the indigenous people of Lapland.

The museum is home to enriching exhibitions with displays covering Sámi history, traditional livelihoods, crafts, clothing (such as gákti), spiritual practices, and the importance of reindeer herding. There is also a Nature Centre, which highlights the unique flora, fauna, and ecosystems of the Arctic, including adaptations to extreme conditions. During the tour of Siida Museum, you'll learn more about life in Lapland.

After visiting the museum, you'll take a short hike to a 'kota' (open shelter with a fire). In the beautiful nature of Inari, you'll enjoy a light lunch around the campfire. If the weather conditions are too extreme, you'll eat lunch indoors at the museum restaurant. After your meal, it's time for your visit to a reindeer farm in Inari!

The guide will lead you to a local authentic reindeer farm. Reindeer herding is a very important practice in Sámi culture. At the farm, you'll get to meet and interact with the magical creatures and learn more about the life of reindeer herders in remote Finnish Lapland. You'll also have the opportunity to feed the reindeer and capture some memorable photos! Afterwards, the guide will drive you back to the original starting point in Ivalo.

Discover the fascinating culture and local history of Lapland on this guided visit to a reindeer farm and Siida Museum in Inari!
