¿Qué actividades hay que hacer en Murcia?
Murcia, the 7th largest city in Spain, is located in the region of the same name in the south-east of the country, between Alicante to the north and Cartagena to the south, and 35 km from the Mediterranean Sea.
Founded in 831 in the valley of the River Segura, Murcia is a historic city marked by the Muslim presence, of which some vestiges still remain. The Christian people have also left their mark here, with Baroque churches, temples and the Cathedral of Santa Maria.
Murcia and its region offer countless activities and sports, whether on land, water or in the air!
To enjoy nature to the full, opt for hiking or mountain biking on the many trails that run through the region. For the more adventurous, you can go rock climbing on the mountain ranges, such as Sierra Espuña or Sierra de la Pila. For fans of caving, there are fascinating chasms and caves in Calasparra, Isla Plana and Cieza.
Between the Mar Menor (saltwater lagoon) and the Mediterranean Sea, you can enjoy a range of water sports.
On the calm waters of the Mar Menor you can go sailing, kitesurfing, canoeing or water skiing. On the Mediterranean coast you can try sea kayaking, caving and scuba diving, or even sport fishing. If you want to go rafting, head to the Segura River!
And for even more thrills, try paragliding in Alhama de Murcia for a breathtaking view of the whole region!
As you can see, Murcia and its region offer a wealth of activities, each more fun and surprising than the next!
