Local Guide

Local Guide is a small family owned company specialising in glacier guiding and they have been operating in southeastern Iceland since 1991. Sigðurður Bjarnason, founded the company in 1991, but since 2015, Aron and Helen María have continued Sigðurður's legacy.

Local Guide, like the name suggests, are proud to be 'local' and have implicit knowledge of their landscape, developing an excellent reputation for engaging with their clientele. They have an unchallenged knowledge of the glacial region and that is why they are among the best rated guides in Iceland.

In the summer, Local Guide offers glacier tours with half-day hikes, family tours and full-day advanced tours on the ice. During the winter months, from October to March, caving tours are offered.

As a small family operation, Local guide are flexible and like to cater to the desires/projects of their client, they are always open to the new possibilities and requests.
