Malia: What to do when you get there?
Malia, located in the northeastern part of Crete and only 35km away from Heraklion, is the perfect spot for your summer activities.
In Malia you will find one street that divides the small coastal city into two parts: the old-style part, with traditional tavernas, local live music, cafés, and narrow streets, and the “partying” part, with many bars, clubs and mainly tourists celebrating until early morning hours.
How to get there
You can take a bus from Heraklion city or you can drive by car through the National Road, towards Hersonissos and Agios Nikolaos. It takes approximately 30-40 minutes.
When to visit
It is best to visit Malia during the summer, or from May to October when it is still hot outside so you can take a swim whenever you feel like it!
What to do
Water activities are a must in Malia, and you have many options to choose from. Jet skiing, parasailing and snorkelling are ideal if you want to add some fun to your holidays.
