Practical information

A 2-day introductory packraft trip on the Gave de Pau between Lourdes and Pau, over a distance of 45 km where there are class 2 and 3 rapids.

You will spend a night under the stars in a bivouac or, if you don't have the necessary equipment, in a campsite (supplement of €20 per person to be paid on the spot).

Course of events

Please allow 2 full days for this activity, including a total of around 11 hours' packraft sailing on the Gave de Pau (not including breaks).

  • Meeting with the instructor at the Voie Verte car park (Marsan Canal) in Pau (free parking)
  • Introduction to the instructor, possibility of leaving your belongings at 2B Aventure and preparation of packraft equipment
  • 20-minute walk to Pau station, where you will catch the train to Lourdes (approximately a 30-minute journey)
  • Arrival at Lourdes station at around 11 a.m., then walk of approximately 30 minutes to the banks of the Gave de Pau
  • Inflating the packrafts
  • Picnic break (at your own expense) at noon with navigation briefing and safety instructions
  • Launch of packrafts at around 1 p.m. and start of your adventure on the Gave de Pau, taking regular breaks along the way
  • Picnic break (at your own expense) at around noon with time to rest before resuming your journey at around 1.30 p.m.
  • End of the first day's sailing at around 6 p.m. in the bivouac area: preparation of the tents with dinner by the fire (freeze-dried meal and toasted marshmallows) or, if you have opted for this option, overnight camping (€20 per person)
  • Breakfast and camp tidy-up at 8 a.m. the next day
  • Launching of the packrafts at around 9 a.m. and resumption of navigation on the Gave de Pau
  • Picnic break (at your own expense) at around noon with time to rest before resuming your journey at around 1.30 p.m.
  • Arrival on the banks of the Gave de Pau near the car park at around 4 p.m., equipment storage and end of the activity
Activity requirements

All participants need to be able to swim at least 25 metres, be able to immerse themself, have already been introduced to a whitewater sport (kayaking, rafting, etc.) and be in good physical condition to take part in this activity.

All minors must be accompanied by an adult.

A minimum of 3 participants is required to run this activity.

Special terms

This activity is not accessible to pregnant people or elderly people.

Pets are welcome to join this activity.

If you wish to opt for an overnight stay at the campsite instead of a bivouac (€20 per person), please inform the instructor once your booking request has been confirmed.
