Practical information

Course of events

- Arrival at the meeting point at the Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon parking lot (please arrive at least 15 minutes before the departure time)

- Meet your certified glacier guide

- Safety and itinerary briefing

- The adventure begins!

- Scenic transfer to the Vatnajökull Glacier parking lot (30 minutes)

- Arrival

- Receive your equipment (helmet, harness, headlamp, and crampons)

- 30-minute hike to the edge of the Vatnajökull Glacier

- Arrival

- Introduction to ice-caving along with equipment usage and safety

- 45-minute 'Saphire Ice Cave' tour

- 30-minute hike back to the vehicle

- Transfer back to the original departure point at the Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon parking lot (30-minute drive)

Activity requirements

Please be advised that all children must be accompanied by an adult.

In addition, participants must be in good physical condition to take part in this excursion.

Special terms

Please note that this excursion includes 1.5 hours of hiking at a pace customized to the group with a 45-minute guided ice cave tour.

In addition, the activity's difficulty level is labelled as 'moderate'.
