Practical information
After snowmobiling through the Arctic forests and over frozen rivers, settle in on a reindeer skin by a freshly drilled hole in the ice and try your luck at catching species like Perch or Whitefish!
Snowmobiles are shared between two participants — one driver and one passenger — with opportunities to switch roles during the ride. You may also choose to book as a solo driver if you prefer to ride alone.
No previous snowmobile experience is required.
- Snowmobiles: 4-stroke, 600cc models with heated handlebar grips
- Distance of the excursion: 20-25 km
- Group size: up to 8 drivers per guide
Course of events
Please allow a total of 5.5 hours for this activity, including 1.5 to 2 hours of fishing.
- Arrive at the meeting point 30 minutes before the activity start time
- Meet your experienced guide
- Equipment (thermal overalls, boots, hat, and gloves)
- Transfer to the snowmobile garage
- Safety instructions for driving the snowmobiles and selection of helmets
- Test drive around a practice track
- Start your snowmobiling excursion from Kiruna
- Stops will be made for information about the surrounding nature and culture, as well as safety and temperature checks.
- Alternation of drivers for shared snowmobiles will be made for those who wish.
- Stops to take photos
- Arrival at the fishing lake
- Instructions on how to use the equipment
- Drill ice-fishing hole
- Catch your line
- Campfire lunch: your guide will bring salmon soup and sandwiches and hopefully you'll catch some Perch or Whitefish
- Drive back to the snowmobile garage for return of helmets
- Transfer back to Kiruna for return of the overalls and boots
Activity requirements
Snowmobile drivers must be at least 18 years old and hold a full, valid driver's license. Please bring the original copy with you on the day of the activity.
The minimum age for sitting as a passenger in a snowmobile is 12 years old.
Children under the age of 5 require an adult to sit in the sled with them.
Please arrive at the meeting point in Kiruna 30 minutes before the start time.
Special terms
For safety reasons, children under 12 years of age will sit in a sled pulled by the guide's snowmobile.
Should you prefer to sit in a sled driven by the guide, please choose the "Adult in sled" option.
Most guests catch fish during this tour, however it is important to note that doing so is not guaranteed.
