Set out on an adventure of a lifetime during this eco-conscious shark cage diving expedition near Cape Town, in the beautiful False Bay!
False Bay, easily accessible from Cape Town by train or car, is one of the great bays of the world and one of its most popular destinations is the lovely Simon’s Town. Simon’s Town is known for its fascinating history of naval spirit and buccaneering as well as its incredible access to sea life, including its African penguin colonies, seals, and sharks! Whether you are looking for a shark cage diving excursion near Cape Town or a memorable activity to do in Simon’s Town in between visiting museums and ogling at penguins, this half day shark diving tour with Apex Shark Expeditions is the perfect adventure for you!
Departing from Simon’s Town, your shark cage diving tour will begin with tea, coffee, and biscuits to welcome you on board. The tour itself is capped at 12 guests only – the smallest group size of any shark diving operation worldwide – in order to create an intimate feel and optimise time spent with wildlife as well as safety. On its way to find sharks, the tour will take an ecologically friendly approach to finding sharks, similar to going on a safari drive to see what marine wildlife you will encounter, meaning that every trip is unique and that the goal is to encounter as much sealife as possible! Once the boat anchors and you get equipped with freshly cleaned wetsuits and goggles, it is time to get into the water with the sharks!
The shark species you will be diving with is the bronze whaler shark, a large, powerful, and very interactive shark. Of course, it is also possible that you will get to see other species of sharks as well as dolphins, whales, and more! On the boat, you will be accompanied by qualified shark diving guides who are specially trained for shark diving experiences and who will share their passion and knowledge of the sharks and other marine life with you to enrich your shark diving tour in False Bay. The shark diving cage itself will sit on the side of the boat and be partially submerged just enough for you to be completely surrounded by water but also able to comfortably come up for air when needed. No previous diving experience is needed to participate in this shark diving excursion.
After the adrenaline rush of being in the water with sharks, on your way back to Simon’s Town, you will get to relax and enjoy the variety of snacks and refreshments on board. You will also have a complimentary aluminium water bottle, filled with spring water, to rehydrate after the adventure filled shark diving expedition in False Bay, near Cape Town!
