The Sámi people are indigenous inhabitants of Sápmi, a region that encompasses parts of northern Norway, Sweden, Finland, and Russia. Their rich and distinctive culture is closely connected to the Arctic environment and its wildlife. Reindeer are central to the Sámi way of life and reindeer herding is a traditional Sámi livelihood as well as a symbol of their culture.
Your adventure begins at the meeting point in Tromsø, where you will depart for the 45-minute, scenic drive to the Tromsø Lapland base. Upon arrival, you will take in the stunning mountainous backdrop of the Lyngen Alps and be greeted by your experienced guide. They will provide a safety and itinerary briefing before you set off into the Arctic wilderness for a reindeer sled ride. Upon your return, you'll have a chance to meet these majestic creatures, feed them, and learn about this herd of over 200 animals!
Once the reindeer are happy and fed, it's your turn. You and your group (a maximum of 48 participants) will enjoy a delicious and traditional meal with hot drinks in a Lavvo-hut (a Sámi tent). Vegetarian options are available, please specify when booking. While you are savouring your lunch, your guide will share insights into the Sámi culture, including its history and daily way of life. In addition, your guide will also show you Sámi handicrafts and traditional clothing. After saying goodbye to your reindeer friends, you'll depart for Tromsø with lifelong memories.

While all of the animals are well-trained for this activity, however, the behaviour of these animals can be unpredictable and therefore it is essential that all participants follow all given instructions for their safety, and the safety of others.
Please be advised that this tour is not suitable for wheelchair users as the terrain and snow may make it difficult to manoeuvre.
