Discover Norway's Arctic wilderness while driving a team of energetic huskies on this fun-filled self-drive dog sledding excursion from Tromsø!

Situated above the Arctic Circle, Tromsø is one of the most popular destinations in Scandinavia for outdoor enthusiasts and nature lovers, especially in the winter. Outside of the city, a pristine winter wonderland awaits, the perfect terrain for dog sledding! This self-drive dog sledding excursion from Tromsø takes place in the village of Moen, situated within the beautiful Målselvdalen valley.

The self-drive dog sledding safari in Moen begins at the starting point in Tromsø. You will board the shuttle for the 130 km (81 mi) journey to Moen. Sit back, relax, and admire the stunning scenery along the way. Upon your arrival, you and your group will be greeted by your experienced instructor who will give you warm winter outerwear and boots to change into. After a safety briefing and an introduction to dog sledding techniques, you'll get to meet the adorable huskies!

Then, the self-drive dog sledding adventure from Tromsø begins! You'll set off into the Arctic wilderness at high speed with your team of huskies, taking in the magnificent mountainous landscapes and snow-capped forests as you go. Please note that one person will drive while the other sits in the sled. The speed and trail are rather challenging and suitable for those who wish to feel the thrill of driving the sled! Midway through the excursion, you'll stop for a break for both you and the huskies. At this time, participants can switch places and take turns driving.

Once you've returned to the base and helped with feeding the huskies, you'll be treated to a delicious lunch (vegetarian options are available, please specify when booking.) This is the perfect time to ask your instructor, an experienced musher, any questions you have about huskies, dog sledding, and life in northern Norway. After saying goodbye to your four-legged friends, you'll return to Tromsø, where the self-drove dog sledding excursion in Moen comes to an end.

Pity there was not enough snow, but very happy we could use the carts, so I didn't miss out on this experience. Dogs were well cared for.

Great to work out with the huskies for two fantastic hours. I never thought it would be so great to run uphills and brake downhills. But once you learned about the steering of the sledge and the dogs - it was easy. And the nature showed itself from the very best. White Mountains - Sun and new layer of powder snow -wow.

You truly are going to lead the sled on your own after a brief explanation from the instructor. In the beginning you might struggle a bit, but once you get the hang of it you'll have a blast ! The dogs love their work and the instructors will make sure that any issues, which may arise during your time on the sledge, will get solved. I just wish we would have more time to spend roaming the forest. I loved it and surely recommend this activity.

Dog sledding was so fun, staff was really kind and helpful (they even helped me find airpods that fell out of my pocket into the snow on the trail!!) Dogs were stinky but were so cute and enthusiastic and all over a great day.
