Join an expedition to Borebukta Bay on the search for Svalbard's walruses! Available in an open or closed RIB boat, this experience is fun and cosy!

Join an expedition to Borebukta Bay from Longyearbyen in search of Svalbard's iconic walruses on this 5-hour RIB boat tour! Welcoming adventurers ages 10 and up.

The mighty walrus can often be observed in these parts of the waters West of Longyearbyen, either lounging on a beach, floating on an iceberg or paddling around the shallow waters. By RIB boat, you will be able to explore the waters in search of these great marine mammals without disturbing their ecosystem.

The adventure begins when your guide picks you up from your accommodation. Then, depending on the time of year and choice of boat, you will either put on your thermal gear or head straight to Longyearbyen Harbour, where you will board the motor boat and set off into the icy water.

The itinerary itself is almost unbelievable, you'll cruise past huge glaciers and icebergs, and enjoy the wide panoramic views over the Arctic Ocean. As you cross the Isfjord, make sure to keep an eye out for other wildlife as well! If luck is on your side, you may spot some of Svalbard's resident birdlife, while on the surface of the water, you may catch a glimpse of the tail of a whale.

Once you've arrived at Borebukta Bay, your guide will scout out the walruses for you to observe from the boat. On land, these big-tusked mammals flap about comically, but in the water, they transform into the most beautiful animals. Some might come and swim alongside you, showing off their graceful strokes as they do so.

You will be provided with food and hot drinks aboard the boat to enjoy as you observe the animals in their natural habitat, a truly unforgettable experience! You'll return to the original departure point in Longyearbyen with memories that will last a lifetime.

Come aboard for an exciting day with Svalbard's marine wildlife and book this RIB boat walrus safari to Borebukta Bay from Longyearbyen today!

This was my second try to see the walruses Generally, the trip was good, liked how the intro was presented and skipper was very good. However, the boat is not suitable for photographers and there were no walruses again. The trip was also shorter than promised.
