Head off on your very own kayak adventure to the fabled island of Mokoli'i Island, from Kailua, Oahu!

After dropping by the Active Oahu storefront in Kailua to pick up your kayaks, life vests, and drybags, the team will give you a kayaking lesson, safety demo, description of the kayak and hiking routes, and directions for driving to Kualoa Regional Park. After that, all that is left to do is strap your kayaks on your car with their help, and off you go!

Kualoa Regional Park is a peaceful area, rife with ancient legend and history, located at the northern end of Kane’ohe bay. Against the majestic backdrop of the Ko’olau mountains, the park offers breathtaking views, hiking trails and a beach that will give you easy access to Mokoli'i Island, otherwise known as Chinaman’s Hat, which legends say is really a petrified dragon!

From the beach at Kualoa Park, you will be able to easily launch your kayak and paddle for 15-30 minutes through incredibly clear and shallow waters to Mokoli’i! Once you land on the west side of the island, there are a couple of options for exploring: you can hike the perimeter, an easy route that allows you to check out the tidepools and a mini cove, all while keeping an eye out for sea turtles, or you can choose the more challenging option and hike up to the island’s basalt peak for an even more stunning view of Oahu's windward coast. Whichever adventure you choose, you are bound to enjoy the beautiful sights and magical feel of the island during your kayak tour!
