Practical information
3h30 to 4 hours outing in Bora Bora with whale watching, explanations from the guide, animal observation and swimming in the sea if conditions permit.
- 6 participants max.
- Pick up at your accommodation by boat if it has a pontoon accessible to the team boat, or at a meeting point agreed in advance with the team.
- Departure for a 3h30 to 4-hour outing.
- Your guide will give you a briefing explaining how the outing will work, the instructions for getting into the water and how to stay safe so as not to disturb the animals or put yourself in danger.
- Whale watching with explanations from the guide.
- Animal observation phase.
- Swimming in the sea if conditions permit (if not, the boat will set off in search of other cetaceans to observe them in turn and see whether or not it will be possible to swim with them).
- Return to your pick-up point for drop-off and completion of the activity.
If you go into the water, you'll have to swim more than 100 metres in the ocean. This requires you to be in good physical condition and comfortable in the water.
It is also important to follow the instructions given on how to get into the water and move around quietly so as not to disturb the whale and risk driving it away.
Not recommended for pregnant people, as the ocean can be very rough.
Please contact the instructor as soon as you arrive in Bora Bora.
The instructor will contact you the evening before the activity at around 8pm to confirm the exact pick-up time, which will be by boat (either at your accommodation if there is safe access to the sea for the boat, i.e. with sufficient depth, a sandy bottom, free of coral and not on the flat shore, and if there is a pontoon large enough to accommodate the boat; or at a pre-determined meeting point near your accommodation). The rendezvous time shown on the calendar corresponds to the start time of the pick-up at the hotels, which finishes around 1 hour later.
If you don't have your own snorkelling equipment, the instructor can provide it for you, as long as you specify your fin size when you confirm your booking.
If you have to return during the day, it will not be possible to shorten the excursion. Make sure you choose a date when you don't have to return.
A private service and GoPro camera hire (SD card supplied) are available on request.
As whales are wild and unpredictable, you may not be able to meet them during the activity. If this is the case, it will not be possible to obtain a refund or reduction.
