Just a 1-hour drive from Bayonne and Biarritz, the Chapitel Canyon is the ideal place to discover canyoning in the Basque Country. With a course featuring all the main obstacles in the sport (optional jumps, abseiling, natural slides and water walking), it is a great place for beginners to take their first steps on a complete course and for more experienced canyoners to have fun! It takes about 2 hours to complete the descent of the Chapitel Canyon, with a qualified instructor guiding you every step of the way.
In a small group of no more than 9 participants, you will have the pleasure of trying your hand at canyoning in the Chapitel Canyon, a natural site hidden away on the Spanish border, a 15-minute drive from Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port. Set in the mountains of the Basque Country, it offers a superb setting for adventure, in the heart of a verdant forest. You will follow the water course while having fun jumping (optional), sliding down the natural slides, the longest of which is 10 metres long, and descending the only abseil, which is 10 metres high. All in complete safety, under the instructor's supervision and using the high-quality equipment provided!

Practical information
Discovery descent of the Chapitel Canyon for 2 hours:
- jumps all optional;
- 1 abseiling descent of 10 metres;
- natural slides, including a final 10-metre slide.
Please plan to spend a total of 3 hours on site.
- Meeting with the instructor in front of the Valcarlos Municipal Fronton, 10 minutes before the start of the activity
- Equipment (neoprene wetsuit and socks, helmet and harness)
- Briefing on the course of the activity
- 20-minute approach walk to the canyon
- Safety briefing with a workshop on equipment use (karabiners, lanyards, handrails, etc.)
- Departure for a 2-hour descent of the Chapitel Canyon, with natural slides, jumps (never compulsory), river walking and a 10-metre abseil
- 5-minute walk back to the meeting point
- De-equipping and end of the activity
All participants must know how to swim, be able to walk over rough terrain for 3 hours and have no medical contraindications to take part in this activity.
All minors must be accompanied by an adult.
Valid identity papers are compulsory for all participants, adults and children, to enter Spanish territory (checks are almost systematic).
Please arrive 10 minutes before the departure time.
This activity is not accessible to pregnant people.
Pets are not permitted to join in this activity.
For group bookings of 4 or more participants, a reduction of €5 per person will be applied to the price of the activity.
