Practical information
Your instructor will offer you a choice of different half-day workshops:
- Building a shelter: Construction of a shelter adapted to the local environment. Several possibilities and variants more or less efficient and/or quick, depending on the material and the time you will have in a survival situation. Quick method with Tarp (rain poncho or tarpaulin) + twine or forestry technique with branches + foliage (braided or not braided): TCHOUM. Improvement of comfort: waterproofing, insulation, windproofing, mattress...
- Making fire : Various methods will be taught to you to light a fire in the middle of nature, to make it safe, to maintain it : with fire-stone, solar, by friction...from A to Z; Various uses of fire : lighting (torches), heating (reflector), heating/cooking (Swedish candle, cooking tripod, oven...), etc... (Supplied equipment: flint, magnifying glass, etc.).
- Finding and filtering water: Man can only survive for about "3 days without drinking"; you will therefore take the necessary steps to know where to find water and how to purify and filter "doubtful" water in order to make it drinkable; Demonstration with straws or filtering pumps, production of water by condensation using plants, making a filter with the means at your disposal, other alternatives. (Material provided: filter straw, micro-pure...)
- Orientation : Map reading and orientation in varied terrain (forest, mountains...); Making and using a compass, method of locating the 4 directions (N/S/E/O) without a compass, orientation techniques and navigation in the field. (Equipment provided: compass, map, walkie-talkie).
- Finding food and taking care of oneself: Introduction to entomophagy, identification and use of toxic, medicinal, edible wild flowers..., preparation and wild cooking, tasting. (Equipment provided: gleaning bag, frying pan, barbecue grill, salt, pepper)
- Use of ropes/strings: Different types and materials of ropes; Explanation and use of knots to make practical or comfort objects (shelter, evacuation stretcher, heat-reflecting wall, etc.); Use of ropes to overcome obstacles, uphill, downhill, handrail, zip line, etc. (Equipment provided: rope and string).
- Make practical utensils in Bushcraft: Fork, spoon, wooden mug..., chair, table, tripod... etc... (Supplied equipment: Swiss Army knife, hatchet)
- To learn different trap concepts: Making light hunting / fishing weapons and dynamic traps for small or medium game* . (Material provided: string)
After confirmation of your booking, the pro will contact you to find out which of the above-mentioned half-day workshops you would like to do.
For your comfort, each participant can take food or any other object that he or she feels is essential to his or her survival (within the limit of 3 "comfort objects" maximum).
