Practical information
A 2-day course (8 a.m. to 5.30 p.m.) for children aged 8 to 14 to discover scuba diving during 4 sea outings (2 per day):
- an introduction to scuba diving (first dive);
- an introductory dive;
- 2 snorkelling excursions to learn about the marine environment.
Please allow 2 days for the whole experience (from 8 a.m. to 5.30 p.m.).
- Meeting with the team at the L'Atelier de la Mer diving centre in the port of Pointe Rouge
- Distribution of wetsuits, fins and masks for the first dive
- Briefing on the activity and safety instructions
- Boarding of the boat and departure for the dive site selected according to weather conditions (20 to 25 minutes sailing time)
- The boat is moored at the dive site, and you are launched with the instructor (1 diver for 1 instructor), who will provide you with the rest of the equipment (tanks, etc.)
- Dive for 20 minutes to a maximum depth of 6 metres
- Return on board the boat and sailing back to the port of Pointe Rouge (20 to 25 minutes sailing time) with a debriefing of your first dive
- Disembarkation, then return of the equipment and reception of first dive diplomas (possibility of showering at the diving centre)
- Lunch break on the centre's terrace, with a choice of picnic lunch brought along by the child or a meal (main course + dessert) prepared by the centre (extra charge - €13)
- Around 1.30 p.m., distribution of fins, mask, snorkel and wetsuit for the snorkelling activity
- Boarding of the boat and departure for a boat tour to the snorkelling site selected according to the weather conditions (20 to 25 minutes sailing time)
- Mooring of the boat at the snorkelling site, followed by a safety briefing with information on the snorkelling area and what can be observed there
- Autonomous launch for 1 hour of snorkelling under the instructor's supervision from the boat
- Back on board and return trip to the port of Pointe Rouge (20 to 25 minutes sailing time)
- Disembarkation and debriefing with the team before returning the equipment and getting the presentation of the following day's programme (still diving in the morning and snorkelling in the afternoon)
- Introduction to scuba diving: familiarisation with the equipment, learning basic techniques and introduction to the principles of aquatic safety.
- Develop respect and understanding of the marine environment.
- Improve your ease in the water, boost your self-confidence and develop the essential skills for your aquatic safety and well-being (learning the basics of aquatic safety, essential rules and emergency procedures).
- Develop social skills (communication, teamwork, etc.).
Maximum age: 14 years old
All participants must know how to swim to take part in this activity.
Written parental authorisation is required for minors to participate in this activity.
All participants must bring with them a medical certificate stating that they are not contraindicated in scuba diving and that is less than one year old.
This activity is not accessible to people with reduced mobility.
Participants who wear glasses can bring their own mask adapted to their eyesight. Otherwise, please ask your optician if you wish to wear contact lenses during the activity.
Pets are not permitted to join in this activity.
