Practical information
An 8-hour day's activity including a 2.5 hours hike to Salto do Prego, Sanguinho, Furnas and the thermal baths of São Miguel with a professional guide.
- Maximum 8 participants per group.
- Distance of the hike : 4.5 km (2.8 miles).
- Meet your professional guide in Ponta Delgada, São Miguel.
- 1h15 drive to the starting point of the hike in Faial da Terra and activity briefing with your guide.
- The hike begins alongside a stream, with a moderate climb through the trees. You continue through the forest, crossing wooden bridges and stone paths, following routes once used by local people.
- The destination is the Salto do Prego waterfall, a special place to take a break. The waterfall has a natural swimming pool, ideal for a quick dip or simply to relax and enjoy the surroundings.
- On the way back, the trail will take you to the village of Sanguinho, an old village abandoned decades ago and currently undergoing restoration.
- After the hike, enjoy a picnic and take the opportunity to recharge your batteries.
- The afternoon will be devoted to the parish of Furnas, one of the most visited sites on the island of São Miguel. You will explore the fumarole fields, where it is possible to observe volcanic activity, such as fumaroles and hot and cold springs.
- To round off the day, you can choose to relax in one of the island's famous spa resorts. You can choose between the Terra Nostra park, with its historic gardens and large hot-water pool, or Poça da Dona Beija, a comfortable area with several open-air thermal pools.
- Debriefing and return journey to Ponta Delgada (1 hour 15 minutes).
Minors must be accompanied by an adult.
A minimum of 2 participants is required for the activity to take place.
Once your booking has been confirmed, please contact the instructor to arrange a pick-up time and place for your activity.
This activity is not recommended for people with knee or ankle problems. Please inform us of any previous injuries, medical conditions or health problems at the time of booking.
We recommend that you are in good physical condition, as this tour sometimes involves walking over unstable terrain, muddy areas and gravel slopes.
For anyone with joint problems, we recommend using an elastic support for greater stability and to avoid further injury.
This tour is not suitable for pregnant women or people with mental or physical disabilities.
Pets are not allowed on the tour.
