Practical information
A half-day introductory caving course lasting 2.5 hours, designed for the less sporty still who enjoy travelling through difficult terrain.
- The activity will take place in the Rébenacq, Bruges or St pé de Bigorre cave.
- You'll alternate between abseiling, climbing and roped progression.
Please allow around 4 hours in total for this activity, including 2.5 hours in the cave.
- Meet the instructor at the agreed location.
- Set up the equipment.
- Approach walk to the cave.
- Briefing by your instructor on the activity, equipment and safety rules.
- Introductory caving session in the Rébenacq, Bruges or St pé de Bigorre caves, including abseiling, climbing and roped progression.
- De-equipping and debriefing.
You need to be in good physical condition to take part in this activity.
A minimum of 4 participants is required.
You will need to use your own vehicle to get to the meeting point.
Once your booking has been confirmed, please contact the instructor to arrange a meeting place.
Underground, the temperature is constant: 13° in most caves. You'll need long, flexible sportswear, and prefer materials that don't retain moisture (polyester or polyamide, for example).
These caves are not subject to the risk of rising water levels: you can even go in when it's raining hard.
- Nylon overalls to protect your clothes from most of the dirt (clay caves)
- Boots (sizes 30 to 47)
- Gloves
- Helmet with lighting
- Long, soft sportswear
- T-shirt + Lightweight long-sleeved sweatshirt
- A pair of high socks
- Complete head-to-toe replacement
