Practical information
A day of 8 to 9 hours of training on mountain and avalanche safety.
- Moderate level walking
- 500 metres maximum ascent
Please allow a full day for this activity.
- Meeting point to be determined (Pays de la Meije or Serre Chevalier Vallée sectors).
- You will be briefed by your experienced guide on the planned itinerary and safety instructions.
- Departure for a day of training.
- Back to the starting point.
The following topics will be covered during the course:
- Basic principles for a coherent snowshoeing route depending on the slopes encountered, the snow conditions (avalanche risk) and the technical and physical level of each individual.
- Learn about personal safety equipment such as avalanche transceivers, probes and shovels, and practise simple, practical search exercises.
- Basic decision-making principles.
- Installation of a handrail.
A minimum of 4 participants is required for the activity to take place.
Participants should be able to complete a day's ride with an ascent of around 500 metres.
Parental authorisation is required for minors wishing to take part in the course.
We recommend that you take out personal accident insurance covering mountain sports at any altitude.
Don't forget to let us know if you are undergoing any special treatment and/or are under medical supervision.
People with motor, mental/psychic or cognitive disabilities, infants and pets are not allowed to take part in this activity.
The duration and itinerary of this activity depend on the weather.
