Practical information

Aloha Ocean invites you to embark on a 3-hour snorkeling boat excursion from Waianae, west of Oahu, to swim with Hawaii's dolphins.

Course of events

Welcome aboard: Climb aboard the Robalo motorboat and make yourself comfortable. The captain and crew will give you essential safety information and introduce you to the day's activities.

Departure: You'll leave the harbor and head north along the coast. Admire the breathtaking views of the Waianae mountain range, formed by the ancient volcanic activity that gave birth to Oahu.

Pack your gear: all the gear you need is included (mask, fins and snorkel) for a comfortable swimming experience. For those with no snorkeling experience, the crew will provide a briefing.

Dolphin spotting: The search for dolphins begins. Aloha Ocean keeps detailed records of dolphin sightings and collaborates with other boats to efficiently cover the entire Oahu coastline.

Swimming with dolphins: Once the dolphins have been spotted, it's time to dive! The ocean guide will position the group to optimize interactions with the dolphins. Watch these magnificent creatures swim gracefully through the water.

Snorkeling with turtles and fish: Afterwards, you'll head to the designated snorkeling area alongside Hawaiian green sea turtles and colorful tropical reef fish. Enjoy 45 minutes of free time for snorkeling or relaxing on the boat.

Coastal relaxation: After snorkeling, relax with your favorite drink as we head back down the coast. Keep an eye out for other marine life as we return to the coast.

Activity requirements

We welcome all experience levels! Please be aware that weaker swimmers may be invited to stay on board during the swimming portion. Conditions permitting, the crew is happy to assist you in the water.

Dolphin trips are fast-paced and best suited for those who can swim comfortably in open water. However, guests who remain on board will still have the opportunity to admire the dolphins from the boat.

All ages are welcome! For young children, we recommend that a parent either accompanies them in the water or stays on board with them if they are not confident swimmers. Please note that children's equipment is limited.

It's very important to inform the captain and crew of any recent or current injuries, illnesses, or medical conditions before departure.

Special terms

Please arrive 30 minutes before the meeting time on the grass outside the two-storey brown building. A member of the team will be waiting for you.

The boat is located in the Waianae Small Boat Harbor, it takes about 1 hour to drive from Waikiki to Waianae, depending on traffic. If you do not have a rental car, Uber, Lyft and The Bus are available. The Bus is only $5 per fare. If bussing, please plan for about 2 hours transportation time.

The ocean is home to sharks, but it's very rare to see one on a dolphin trip. In the rare event of a shark sighting, the crew is trained to ensure your safety.

If you don't have your own waterproof camera, you can rent a gopro for $40.
