Practical information
Rafting down the Mile 5 section of the glacier-fed Athabasca River: this section of the river is an excellent 1-hour introduction to rafting, with Class II rapids and superb mountain views
- Arrive at the starting point and meet the guides
- Explanation of the activity, loan of equipment
- 15-minute bus transfer to Athabasca Mile 5
- Safety briefing and 1-hour rafting descent
- Passage through sections of Class I water for around 10 minutes, followed by turbulent sections of Class II rapids, with more impressive waves and splashes
- 20-minute bus transfer back to Jasper and end of the activity
To take part in this activity, participants must be comfortable in the water. Knowing how to swim is not compulsory, but all participants will get wet.
Please arrive 15 minutes before the start of the activity.
Waivers must be signed to participate and can be done digitally on arrival.
Children must be accompanied by an adult.
You can leave your personal belongings on the bus, or take them with you in a backpack.
If you wish, you can buy the photos (5 to 8 shots) of your activity online via PicThrive at the end of your activity for an extra $40 ($20 for just 2 photos): the photos are taken at the start of the activity and during one of the biggest splashes on the course, and will be shown to you on your IPad at the end of the experience.
