Practical information
- Meeting with the team at Marina Taina in Puna'auia
- Board the boat for approximately 4 hours of activity
- Detailed briefing on the outing and safety instructions by the naturalist guides
- Search for whales from the boat, giving priority to less-frequented areas
- Once the whales have been found, observation and analysis of their behaviour from the boat
- If conditions allow (weather and animal behaviour), fit out your snorkelling equipment and get in the water to swim alongside the humpback whales, in compliance with the DIREN (Direction de l'Environnement) approach rules
- Back on board the boat, debriefing on the whale sighting and behaviour
- If there is still time, search for other cetaceans, otherwise return to Marina Taina, disembark and end of the activity
All participants wishing to take part in the launch if it takes place must know how to swim and have previous snorkelling experience (use of fins, mask and snorkel).
Written parental authorisation is required for minors to participate in this activity without an accompanying adult.
Since wildlife is unpredictable, their presence is never guaranteed.
This activity is not recommended for pregnant people.
If you wish, you can rent a private photographer for your activity, at an additional cost of 15,000 xpf (€125): please contact the guide once your booking has been confirmed to arrange this.
