Practical information
- Meeting with your mountain guide in Val Thorens (time and meeting point confirmed by the guide the day before the activity)
- Journey on foot and by ski lift to the backcountry skiing site in Val Thorens (you need to have the Trois Vallées ski pass)
- Distribution of avalanche safety kits and harnesses, checking of your equipment, followed by a briefing on the day's activities and safety instructions
- Start of your day's backcountry skiing in Val Thorens
- At the end of the day, return of equipment loaned at the end of the session, then return back to Val Thorens to finish the activity
- Knowing and using different equipment
- Learning how to convert the ascent, how to adapt technically to the terrain and what mistakes not to make, how to use knives (ski crampons) and even mountaineering crampons
- Introduction to avalanche research
- Introduction to nivology
- Awareness of the behaviour of each skier in an off-piste group
A minimum number of 4 participants is required for this activity to take place.
A good level of skiing (being comfortable in all conditions on ski slopes) and good physical condition are required to partake in the activity.
Minors must be accompanied by an adult.
You will need to purchase the Trois Vallées ski pass to be able to reach the activity site.
The time and meeting point for this activity are given as an indication: the guide will contact you the day before your activity to confirm them.
