Practical information
This course consists of 5 theory lessons followed by a test and an exam at the end of the course, 5 pool lessons and 4 open water dives.
Worldwide recognised first-level scuba certification. This course is ideal for those who want to start diving on a regular basis. This is the most recognised diving education course.
Once you have successfully completed the course you will get a certificate enabling you to dive down independently to a depth of 18 metres.
The diving centre will take you to the best diving spots around Santa Maria Island that can be accessed by boats.
You will learn the fundamental aspects of scuba diving:
- Prepping and looking after the gear
- Specific scuba techniques
- Buddy system
- Planning dives
- Underwater navigation
- Problem management
- Dive down to a depth of 18 metres (maximum) under the watchful eye of your PADI certified instructor
- Have fun exploring the underwater world
All participants under 18 must provide written parental consent.
You need to be able to swimming autonomously and need to be in good physical health.
No prior experience with scuba diving is required, but you can try it first through the Discover Scuba Diving programme.
Please note that you must bring a medical certificate from your GP dated within the last 3 months stating that you are allowed to practice this activity.
Please note that you cannot fly for 24 hours after your last scuba dive.
