Practical information

For 4 days, come and really put into practice all the survival techniques with a knife as your only tool.

The activity can be adapted to the group!

Course of events

1st DAY
- Reception of the trainees: between 8pm and 11.30pm at the "base camp", basic bedding sheltered from the rain, first evening meal not provided, you can bring your own picnic). Preparation of the equipment (i.e... a knife and... nothing else), and getting into mental condition for survival.

DAY 2
- 8.00 am Wake up: breakfast (not provided) coffee offered.

- Briefing on the basic principles of survival (what is a survival situation?) priorities, dangers, objectives, etc...

- 8h30 Departure from the "base camp", departure for the bivouac site: introduction to orienteering techniques in the wilderness, observation of vegetation, stress management, collecting and carrying water, etc...

Recognition of edible plants, animal tracks, etc...

- 13h00 Arrival at the bivouac site: choice of a suitable place to set up the bivouac. Learning about the main principles of assembly and the techniques for making a shelter.

Learning how to make a fire (without matches or lighter).

Setting up a situation and distribution of tasks.

- 3.30 pm Learning how to make drinking water: technique used to purify water.

- 16.30 Learning how to make and handle weapons and traps (bow, arrow, harpoon etc...).

- 17h30 Departure of an expedition: gathering edible plants and fruits, learning hunting and fishing techniques, collecting edible insects, setting traps etc...

- 18h30 Lunch around the fire made up solely of the fruits of fishing, hunting and collecting in the afternoon.

- 20h00 Vigil: narration, impressions, group cohesion, reminder of the various techniques learnt during the day. Recognition of the main constellations to orient oneself with the stars.

- 23h00 Sleep

DAY 3
- 07.30 am Wake up

- 08h00 Departure of an expedition: gathering edible plants and fruits, learning hunting and fishing techniques, collecting edible insects, setting traps, etc...

- 08h30 Lunch around the fire: storytelling, impression during the night, group cohesion, reminder of the various techniques learnt. Setting up of daily tasks.

- 09h30 Introduction to the recognition of forest animal footprints.

- 12.00 Renovation of the shelters, collection of fuel,

and rope making. Stretcher workshop. Workshop to understand how to be locatable using fire, sun,...

- 19h00 Meal around the fire made up solely of the fruits of fishing, hunting and collecting in the afternoon.

- 8.00 pm Vigil: storytelling, impressions, group cohesion, reminder of the various techniques learnt during the day. Management of fatigue and lack of water and food.

- 11.00 pm Bedtime

DAY 4
- 07.30 am Departure of an expedition: survey of the traps set

the day before, collection of plants and insects. Collection of water such as dew.

- 08h30 Lunch around the fire: storytelling, impression during the night, group cohesion, reminder of the various techniques used.

- 10.30 am : Departure from the bivouac : orientation in the middle of nature with map and compass in autonomy, collection of edible plants and fruits. Restoration of the site. Raising awareness on the respect of the environment.

- 13h30 Return to the gîte: shower, comfort, debriefing, etc... (buffet and coffee offered).

- 16h30 End of the course

Activity requirements

Material to be provided for the course

For before and after the course:
- a sleeping bag
- a headlamp
- soap and towel

During the course:
- a knife
- a warm and waterproof hiking suit
- camera, Gopro allowed
- telephones, camcorders, watches, prohibited
