Practical information

A snorkelling excursion in Rangiroa including up to 3 different launches (each of approx. 20 minutes) over 1.5 hours: the first at the Rangiroa Aquarium, another offshore with the dolphins (only possible if the animals are encountered and all the conditions are right for a safe launch), then the last at the Tiputa pass (only possible if the current is incoming).

Course of events

- Pick-up from your accommodation (guesthouses and hotels) in the town of Avatoru, with only 5 to 15 minutes of transport to The Six Passengers diving centre

- Welcome at the centre with a briefing on the activity and safety instructions

- Boarding the boat for the first snorkelling site, the Aquarium, just 5 minutes away: discover a coral garden and numerous reef fish next to your instructor

- Back on board the boat to head out to sea in search of dolphins

- If dolphins are found and all the conditions are met (dolphin behaviour, swell, etc.), you will be launched with the instructor for a snorkelling session with the dolphins

- Return aboard the boat to go to the entrance of the Tiputa channel

- If the current is incoming and all the conditions are right, you can take to the water with the instructor for a drift snorkelling session in the Tiputa channel

- Back on board the boat to discuss the experience with the instructor over a coffee/tea while you sail back to the centre

- Equipment storage at the centre before being transported back to your accommodation

Activity requirements

All participants must know how to swim to take part in this activity.

All children must be accompanied by an adult.

Special terms

This activity is not recommended for pregnant people.

Since wildlife is unpredictable, the presence of dolphins is never guaranteed.

It is possible to bring your own snorkelling equipment, which is always preferable, especially for children.

Anyone wishing to accompany participants without getting in the water must reserve their place at the same price as the participants.
