The city’s skyline rises above a network of waterways, where the gentle movement of the river reflects the changing light from dawn to dusk. Whether you are gliding past the historic Old Port, exploring the lush shores of Parc Jean-Drapeau, or drifting near the verdant banks of Île Sainte-Hélène, Montréal’s aquatic landscape invites you to experience the city from a fresh perspective. The subtle scent of river air, the play of sunlight on the water, and the distant hum of city life create an atmosphere that is both invigorating and serene, making Montréal a prime destination for paddleboarding enthusiasts and newcomers alike.

Practising stand up paddleboarding in Montréal is an immersive journey through varied environments. Typical routes might lead you along the calm inlets of the Lachine Canal, where the water’s surface mirrors the vibrant colours of summer foliage, or out onto the broader Saint Lawrence, where you feel the cool breeze and the gentle resistance of the current beneath your board. Sessions often last between one and two hours, allowing time to absorb the contrasting sensations: the quiet rhythm of paddling in sheltered coves, the lively sounds of festivals along the waterfront, and the occasional challenge of navigating gentle wakes from passing boats. The terrain ranges from smooth, glassy stretches ideal for beginners to more open water sections that offer a touch of adventure for those seeking a dynamic experience. Each outing reveals new angles of the city and its surrounding nature, from the distant silhouette of Mont Royal to the bustling quays of the Old Port.

This was such a fun acidity and one of the most memorable things I’ve done. The dogs are so well taken care of and you can tell they’re really happy and have so much energy.
