Learn to surf on Newquay's iconic coastline with beginner's lessons in Fistral and Towan Beach!

Show off your standing series on Cornwall's famous Fistral Bay with beginner's surfing lessons in Newquay, Cornwall.

Teaching you the basics from beach safety to your standing series - Newquay is the perfect place to master your essential surfing skills. A taster lesson aimed at beginner surfers of all ages and abilities, grab a board and head out onto the beach for a two-hour lesson that will help take you from the sand to surf in total confidence. Learn what POP is all about and test your technique on a beach renowned for its safe, thigh high waves that are ideal for foamie first-timers.

Location
Fistral and Towan beach are two of the best beaches in Cornwall. Located on the Newquay coastline, their consistent beach breaks and shallow water are perfect for beginners. Considered the original home of the UK surf scene, Newquay is a popular summer destination on the North coast of Cornwall - with watersports like surfing one of the top rated activities along the peninsular. Only an hour flight from central London to the area's domestic airport, sandy Fistral and Watergate Bay beaches are exposed to the Atlantic Ocean that can create strong surf - seen during the World Surf League's Quiksilver & Roxy Open in August.

Activity
A two-hour taster lesson that aims to take you from total beginner to shaka surfer, this group surfing lesson is practised on world-famous beaches like Fistral beach or Towan beach in Newquay (tide and conditions dependent). Meet your instructor at the activity centre only 20 feet from the beach and kit up with wetsuits and boards before you hit the sand and get started. Learn about beach safety, warm up with some quick exercises and practise your standing series - then head into the waves where your instructor will give you tips and tricks to help you ride small whitewater - improving your balance, placement and board control.

Conditions
Towan Beach in North Cornwall is a sheltered beach break that has fairly consistent surf and can work at any time of the year. The beaches at both Great Western and Tolcarne are Blue Flag certified and have lifeguards during the summer. Surfing lessons are organised according to the tide - with the most favourable season running from May until September when sea temperatures reach 17°C. Don't forget to check out Boardmasters Festival in August when the waves are at their best, who knows - you could be sharing the line up with a WSL pro!
