It is here that the Palmiet River continues its journey to the South Atlantic Ocean where it empties, offering numerous class 3 to 4 rapids depending on its flow, perfect conditions for white water sports in South Africa!
Open to anyone over 12 years old who can swim, rafting on the Palmiet River is carried out aboard 2-seater rafts, also known as ‘crocodiles’, or 4-seaters, depending on the water level. You can enjoy the experience with your family or friends, in complete safety under the supervision of a professional instructor on board a raft. He will guide you through the river's 5 main rapids: ‘Handstands up’, ‘Bubble and Squeak’, ‘Itchy and Scratchy’, ‘Waterfall’ and ‘Judgement Day’.
You will spend around 4 hours on the water on this rafting adventure on the Palmiet River, surrounded by the splendid setting of the Kogelberg Nature Reserve. Practical information
A rafting trip down the Palmiet River lasting around 4 hours, including sections of class 3 to 4 rapids depending on the water level.
- Meeting with the team in front of the reception of the Kogelberg Nature Reserve
- Fitting of rafting equipment (wetsuit - not supplied, helmet and life jacket)
- Approach walk to the edge of the Palmiet River
- Raft launch with a briefing on the activity and safety instructions
- Departure for approximately 4 hours of rafting on the Palmiet River, through class 3 to 4 rapids depending on the water level
- Return to the meeting point, de-equipping and end of the activity

All participants must know how to swim to take part in this activity.
All children must be accompanied by an adult.
A minimum number of 7 participants is required to run this activity.
This activity is not recommended for pregnant people.
It is your responsibility to make sure you have any personal medication with you (e.g. asthma puffers, allergy medication, etc.).
Please note that this option does not include the CapeNature Conservation fee, which is currently R60.00 per adult. It is payable at the reserve reception, but if you have a WildCard or are staying in the reserve, you do not need to pay it.
