Go for a 12 km hike in Reunion Island! The itinerary of your hike will start at the Maïdo pointview, from where you will be able to admire an incredible view of the cirque of Mafate. This place is only accessible on foot, it remains a wild and natural preserved place of which you will have the chance to discover the history.
You will then take the path along the Rempart, a 1,000 m cliff plunging into the cirque's relief. You will enjoy the morning view, walking through the heather vegetation typical of the highlands of Reunion Island.
At 2,600 m, below the summit of Grand Bénare, you will head towards "La Glacière": a historical site, a place of memory from the time of slavery. Indeed, this natural site was shaped by man to exploit the ice that forms at these high altitudes. This place, exploited by the slaves and frequented by the "maroons", will allow you to immerse yourself in the dark history of marronage.
After the break, you will return to the Maïdo car park via a wide fire defence track.
