The experienced guides will provide safety and driving training on a snowmobile before you drive away into 'the white desert'. You'll be as furthest north as you can possibly get on the European mainland, providing you with the greatest chance of experiencing the magical Northern Lights dance across the polar night.

This safari is specially created for guests of the Hurtigruten arriving in Mehamn. Within the time the Hurtigruten ship goes from Kjøllefjord to Mehamn, you're offered a guided tour through the wilderness looking for the Northern Lights. The tour goes in a terrain where it is safe and easy for both younger and older guests to attend.

The tour starts on arrival in Mehamn, where you'll get dressed in warm shoes, a snowmobile suit, a helmet, and warm gloves. The experienced guide will provide safety and driver training on a snowmobile before you drive away into "the white desert". At this point you're the furthest north you can possibly get on the European mainland and therefore there's the greatest chance of experiencing the magical Northern lights dance across the polar night. You'll run about 15 km with several stops along the way. Tucked away in the white desert, you'll take a break with a hot drink around the campfire in a real Sami tent.

You'll continue by bus down to Kjøllefjord. The friendly bus driver will guide you and tell you about life on the coast, along the way.

In Kjøllefjord you'll meet the ship's crew on the quays waiting room and go aboard Hurtigruten ship.
