Guided Hike at Piton Savanne in the Black River Gorges National Park, Mauritius

Take a family walk in the Black River Gorges National Park and climb to the top of Piton Savanne to the north of Chamouny!

The Piton Savanne hike is an easy walk suitable for families with children aged 6 and over. Led by a guide, you will set off on a 7 km hike in the Black River Gorges National Park, near Chamouny and La Vallée des Couleurs Nature Park. At a leisurely pace, you will walk for 4 to 4.5 hours to a platform renowned for the panoramic views it offers over the south of Mauritius, and then to the top of the piton if you wish, at an altitude of 704 metres!

This guided hike to the Piton Savanne offers you the advantage of discovering this natural site alongside a local guide who will share with you all his knowledge about the history of the piton and its endemic flora and fauna. You will also pass by the Mauritius Conservation Service's pink pigeon breeding site, a species of bird unique to the island! On the way up to the top of the mountain, you will stop regularly to admire the different views of the south and west coasts of the island, as well as the surrounding area and the Black River Gorges National Park.
