The full-day adventure begins with the snowmobiling tour on Mýrdalsjökull. You'll meet your experienced guide at Mýrdalsjökull Base and be driven to the ice cap in a real glacier truck. Upon arrival at the starting point, you'll receive the equipment and snowmobiles. Each vehicle will be shared between two, with one driver and one passenger, or you can ride as a solo driver. No previous experience is needed, the guide will go through a safety briefing and driving instructions. Then, the snowmobiling on Mýrdalsjökull begins!

During the snowmobiling tour on Mýrdalsjökull's icy surface, you'll experience incredible glacier wilderness and the amazing scenery of Iceland's southern coast. After your snowmobiling adventure, you'll return to the starting point. Then, you must make your own way to the second meeting point for the glacier hiking tour on Sólheimajökull (you'll receive instructions upon booking). At the Sólheimajökull Base, you'll be greeted again by a certified instructor. After a quick safety briefing and tutorial for using the glacier equipment, your glacier hike on Sólheimajökull begins!

Sólheimajökull is known for its stark beauty and dramatic landscapes, with blue ice, deep crevasses, and ash-covered ice from past volcanic eruptions. The expert guide will lead you on a safe walk across the glacier and you'll discover its unique ice formations and tunnels. You'll also learn more about the history, formation, and importance of the glaciers in Iceland. At the end of your glacier hiking tour on Sólheimajökull, you'll return to the starting point.

Course of events

- Please arrive at the first meeting point at Myrdalsjökull Base Camp at least 30 minutes before the activity start time

- Meet the guide

- Drive to the ice cap in a glacier truck (approximately 30 minutes)

- Receive safety briefing and driving instructions

- Set up the vehicle

- The snowmobiling tour begins!

- Drive across Myrdalsjökull Glacier

- Return drive to Myrdalsjökull Base (approximately 30 minutes)

- Travel on your own to the second meeting point at Sólheimajökull Base

- Meet the guide and receive the glacier equipment

- Receive safety briefing and instructions

- The glacier hiking adventure begins!

- Guided walk across Sólheimajökull Glacier (approximately 2 hours 30 minutes)

- Return to the starting point at Sólheimajökull Base

Activity requirements

Snowmobile drivers must be at least 17 years old and hold a valid car driver's license. Please bring the physical copy with you on the day of the activity.

Children or those without a licence will ride on the vehicle as a passenger.

Special terms

Please note that after the snowmobiling tour on Mýrdalsjökull, you will need to make your own way to the second meeting point for the glacier hiking tour at Sólheimajökull Base.

For this tour, you can choose to share the snowmobile between two participants, with one driver and one passenger, or drive as a single rider (mandatory for groups with odd numbers).
