On this excursion, you'll visit the lake and its surrounding natural scenery.
For your jeep tour to Lake Mývatn, you can meet the guide at the starting point or choose your pick-up location in Akureyri (please specify when booking). You'll be greeted by your experienced guide and board the comfortable Jeep for your full-day adventure! On the way to Lake Mývatn, you'll stop at Goðafoss waterfall, a spectacular natural phenomenon known as the 'Waterfall of the Gods.'
Formed around 2,300 years ago during a volcanic eruption, Lake Mývatn is characterised by lava formations, pseudocraters, and geothermal features. Afterwards, the jeep tour around Lake Mývatn continues to Dimmuborgir, a fascinating area of lava formations resembling twisted towers and arches.
Then, the guide will drive you to Skútustaðagígar, an area of pseudocraters formed by steam explosions when lava flowed over wetlands. The last stop on the tour is at a unique photo spot in Eyjafjordur. From this position, you'll have an excellent view of the winding fjord and the town of Akureyri.
