Hike up the rock of Agio Pnevma (Holy Spirit), located in the middle of the valley extending from the village of Kastraki towards the stunning Meteora.
This tour will take you on an adventurous exploration along Meteora's hermit caves. You will climb the Aghio Pnevma (Holy Spirit) rock pillar by following the ancient, winding trail above Kastraki, while soaking in some breathtaking views of Meteora's rock formations and the surrounding valleys!
Your guide will navigate you through unspoiled paths that offer the best views possible. You will see the chapel dedicated to the Holy Spirit, which was built inside a cave by the first hermit of Meteora, where a hermit monk, Varnavas, lived back in the tenth century, and it is now said that this rock served as the foundation for Meteora's monastic community.
You will set off from the trails near the village of Kastraki, starting off from the central square of Kastraki, at the top of Aghio Pvemna rock pillar. You will also have the opportunity to visit the monks' prison cave, which is situated on the northern side of Aghio Pnevma.
The hike will then end back at the town center in Kastraki after passing beneath the Saint. George of 'Mandilaras' cave, all surrounded by some spectacular views from the top of the Holy Spirit cliff.
Prepare to walk in the footsteps of Meteora's earliest hermit monks and visit the caves where those devoted people decided to reside for many years. Your guide will tell you all about the fascinating tales and legends.
