Rhodes, a beautiful Greek island in the southeastern Aegean Sea, offers enchanting underwater landscapes for scuba diving enthusiasts. The island features diverse dive sites with underwater caves, rock formations, and marine life. If you are a qualified diver, the certified professional instructors will plan a personalised, safe and thrilling underwater diving adventure in Rhodes for you!
You can choose from different options for your diving adventure! If you have an Open Water Certificate and have dived within the last 12 months, you can take part in the Diving at Giannoula K. or Diving in Lindos options. If you have your certificate but haven't dived within the last 12 months, you must take part in the Refresh Course first.
The activity begins by meeting your guide at the diving centre in Rhodes. They will provide all of the scuba diving equipment, including a 10 or 12-litre tank and a weight belt. After going through the itinerary for the day and getting geared up, you will be transported to the chosen dive site.
For the first dive option, you will explore the famous shipwreck of Giannoula K., a 110-meter-long cargo ship that sunk back in 1981, and has been underwater ever since. The shipwreck is located in Plimiri, approximately 85km from Rhodes Town at Cape Vigla. It is a quiet, sandy bay with a small fisherman's harbour and a lovely taverna. Originally built in the Netherlands, Giannoula K. went through several owners before sinking in 1981 after some bad weather in Plimiri Bay. This is a fascinating dive site as you can explore the still mostly intact shipwreck.
For the first dive, you will explore all around the outside of the vessel and the upper decks, reaching a maximum depth of 18 meters. For the second dive, you must hold an Advanced Open Water Certificate. For this dive, you will tour the inner parts of the wreck including the engine room, reaching a maximum depth of 21 meters. There is no time limit, you can dive until the air consumption runs out!
The second dive option is Diving in Lindos. Lindos is a historic and picturesque village on the island of Rhodes. For this dive, you will explore the domes at the great cave of Lindos, "Cleobulus Tomb". This is one of the most impressive diving spots in Greece! You will explore some beautiful fauna and the magnificent underwater marine life, including tuna, large dusky groupers and even seals. This first dive requires an Open Water Certificate and reaches a maximum depth of 18 meters.
For the second dive in this option, you must hold an Advanced Open Water Certificate, and you will be asked to perform a test dive the previous day as well. You will dive deeper for this second part, reaching a maximum depth of 30 meters and exploring more beautiful flora and fauna and some spectacular rock formations. At the end of each dive, the guide will transport you back to the diving centre in Rhodes.
