The Putoa canyon in Tahiti is a real jewel of French Polynesia which gathers all the aspects of the canyoning activity!
Canyoning is an outdoor sport that requires walking in varied terrain, swimming in calm or whitewater, jumping, sliding, abseiling and other rope techniques.
Located in the Papenu Valley, the Putoa canyon is the most popular on the island because it has all that you can expect from a canyoning activity.
Your day begins with an approach walk of 1:15 hour, including 30 minutes uphill at a very high altitude. You will arrive on a plateau offering a breathtaking panorama, and then a series of 4 canyons.
Before the descent of the canyon, you will have a lunch break and enjoy a wild setting with greenery and river.
You then start the descent with two very playful natural slides that you can cross several times. Then, it's time for the mandatory jump of 5-meter and, if you are adventurous, you'll be able to try the 12-meter jump! The course ends with a final abseil of 40 meters.
