Just 2 minutes from the resort of Vars, on the picturesque Grandes Alpes road, your guide will be waiting for you for this snowshoe hike near Vars la Forêt Blanche at dusk. Easily accessible from Gap or Briançon, Vars la Forêt Blanche is a grouping of 2 resorts: Risoul and Vars.

Your guided snowshoeing activity in the Vars valley begins with an easy ascent during which you can take regular breaks whenever you feel the need. The aim is not to challenge yourself, but simply to reach the summit and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of an evening in the mountains. What's more, your ascent will take place at sunset, so you're bound to want to stop and take some photos! On arrival at the summit, you'll look for an ideal spot to light a fire. Once the fire is lit, you can enjoy a hot drink while listening to the crackling of the flames and admiring the starry sky. Equipped with a headlamp, you'll head back down the mountain feeling rested and grateful!

Practical information

Join a group and set off on a snowshoe hike near Vars la Forêt Blanche at sunset !

  • Easy level.
  • Small groups of 8 people max.
Course of events

Please allow 3.5 hours in total, including 3 hours of activity.

  • Meet your guide at the Refuge Napoléon Vars.
  • Equipment (snowshoes and hiking sticks).
  • Briefing on how to use your snowshoes and poles.
  • Start of the hike, easy climb with regular breaks.
  • After sunset, you'll look for an ideal spot to build a fire with your guide.
  • Enjoy a hot drink, with or without alcohol, around the fire.
  • Fun descent with or without headlamp.
  • Arrive back to the car park.
Activity requirements

You should be able to hike in the snow for 1 hour with regular breaks to take part in this activity.

Children aged 14 and under must be accompanied by an adult.

A minimum of 5 participants is required for the activity to take place.

Special terms

People with motor disabilities and infants are not allowed to take part in the hike.
