If you know how to swim and want to enjoy a memorable experience in Marseille, this snorkelling excursion from a boat is just what you need! From the Pointe Rouge harbour, you will set off for a 20-25 minute boat ride in Marseille harbour to reach your snorkelling site in the Frioul islands or the Riou archipelago (depending on sea conditions), whatever the season: the water in the Mediterranean Sea can rise to 26°C in summer and only drop to 14°C in winter, making for pleasant temperatures that you will be able to enjoy with your wetsuits!

Once you arrive at the snorkelling site in the Frioul islands or Riou archipelago in Marseille's Calanques, the instructor will tell you everything you need to know about the area you will be diving in with your fins, mask and snorkel. A fish identification leaflet is also on board to help you identify the species you may encounter during your snorkelling tour. Then it will be time to get in the water for an hour and a half of free snorkelling, at a minimum depth of 1 to 2 metres to give you the chance to see as much as possible!

Supervised by an instructor from the boat, you will have the pleasure of swimming in clear waters, with the option of returning to the boat to enjoy the sun and rest before diving back in. Practical information

Course of events

- Meeting with the instructor at the L'Atelier de la Mer diving centre in the port of Pointe Rouge

- Distribution of fins, snorkel, mask and wetsuits

- Boarding of the boat and departure for a boat tour to the snorkelling site selected according to the weather conditions (20 to 25 minutes sailing time)

- Mooring of the boat at the snorkelling site, followed by a safety briefing with information on the snorkelling area and what can be observed there

- Autonomous launch for a 1.5-hour snorkelling excursion under the supervision of the instructor from the boat, with the option of returning to the boat for those who wish to do so

- Back on board and return trip to the port of Pointe Rouge (20 to 25 minutes sailing time)

- Disembarkation and debriefing with the team before returning the equipment and ending the activity

Activity requirements

All participants must know how to swim to take part in this activity.

Written parental authorisation is required for minors to participate in this activity.

Special terms

This activity is not accessible to pregnant people and people with reduced mobility.

Participants who wear glasses can bring their own mask adapted to their eyesight. Otherwise, please ask your optician if you wish to wear contact lenses during the activity.

Anyone wishing to take part in the outing as a companion, without taking part in the launch, pays the same price as the participants.

Pets are not permitted to join in this activity.
