The main goal of this snowshoeing trip is to reach the Escalette summit and discover the white landscape of the Pyrenees with your mountain leader, Julien. You will spend 2 days off the beaten tracks, far from the ski resort and the crowd, plainly enjoying a great week-end with your friends while surrounded by woodland and snowy valleys. Julien will be more than happy to share his knowledge about mountain activities as well as the wildlife and vegetation inside the Pyrenees.
Cherry on the cake, you will be lucky to spend the night in the great outdoors, in a mountain hut just like a real trapper!
You will depart from the Montrejeau train station to go to the Menté pass (near the Mourtis ski resort) where the adventure begins. On the first day you will hike on the Escalette summit, then you will camp in the hut for an unforgettable night!

Practical information
Go on a 2 day snowshoeing trip in the Cagire-Escalette mountain and spend the night inside a mountain hut.
Your programme: night-time snowshoeing excursion, stargazing, build an igloo and so many other things to do!
Day 1:
9.00 a.m: Meeting at the Montréjeau train station, you will drive for 40 minutes to the Menté pass, just above Saint Béat in the Garonne valley.
10.00 a.m: You will start the amazing snowshoeing excursion up to the Escalette summit (1856 meters).
1.00 p.m: Lunch break.
2.00 - 4.00 p.m: You will go down to the mountain hut on the Escalette summit where you will spend the night.
7.00 p.m: Dinner
10.00 p.m: Short night-time hike (optional) or stargazin (optional)
Day 2:
8.00 a.m: Breakfast
9.00 a.m: Building of an igloo next to the shack
11.00 a.m: You will go back down to the parking spot
12.00 a.m: Time to say goodbye to the group and the mountain guide!
You can spend the rest of the day skiing at the Mourtis ski resort or relax at the spa in Luchon.
You will be charged with an extra 25 euros on the location for dinner and breakfast at the hut.
Depending on the weather condition some adjustments will be done to insure your safety and the smooth running of your trip. The guide may make last minute modification, change his mind about someone's particpation, rethink this person equipment or physical condition before the beginning of the excursion.
The guide in charge of planning the trip can ask for you to bring your safety pack (Arva beacon, shovel and probe). It is 20 euros per person for the rental of the equipment.
