Follow the paths of the Vizzavona forest, a place full of history and legends! The hike will start at the Vizzavona pass, where you will take an old road, the "allée des tilleuls", then the GR20 to the famous "cascades des anglais". These waterfalls are not very big but they are sublime and give a particular atmosphere to the valley! You will walk along the Agnone river before taking a picnic break in the middle of nature, near natural basins.
After having regained your strength, you will leave the beaten track and discover Corsican sheepfolds at the foot of the Monte d'Oro. On the way back, you will enjoy superb views of the Oriente massif and the valley floor. A stop is also planned at the Fort de Vaux de Vizzavona, today in ruins and classified as a historical monument since 1996.
As an option, you will be able to discover an essential part of hiking in Corsica: the spuntinu! This typically Corsican picnic, made up of local cheeses and charcuterie, is part of the island's mountain culture, so try it to enjoy a convivial and gourmet moment in the middle of nature!
After this hike on the Vizzavona pass, you can end the day, if you wish, with a swim on the beaches of Ajaccio and its southern shore.
